Porch Coffin releases new single “Rosen Hotel”

“Rosen Hotel” is the first release since their self-titled EP that came out last year.

Mixed and mastered by none other than Brett Romnes, this new single surpassed all of my expectations. Porch Coffin, an Orlando-based modern punk band, formed in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and with a desire to express the difficulties of that time through their music. The three-piece band has been self-releasing their music as well, and there’s no doubt about how well they’ve been doing whilst still being new to the scene.

Rosen Hotel is a great track where you can hear the influences of the early 2000s, and it pairs well with the cover for the single. With screaming about how they’re “Sick of it all, I’m sick” and ending with an “F- it!” – amongst everything happening today, it’s both catchy and easily relatable no matter what you’re going through. I love the grungy sound of the track, and the guitar, bass, and drums all pair together spectacularly.

I myself have been a fan of 90s & early 2000s alternative/grunge era, so I was very excited about this release. It’s a different sound from their first EP Porch Coffin which was a little more experimental, but I think Porch Coffin has found their niche in Rosen Hotel.

Another thing that stands out about the band is how they are self-releasing their music, and are also big advocates in the DIY scene! They’re also not afraid to get political in their work and it is especially admirable, with so many other artists not taking a public stance.

Porch Coffin is a band to watch! They’ve been up and coming in the Orlando scene, already playing at a festival and doing some touring along the East Coast. They have some upcoming shows in North & South Carolina & Florida over the summer too!

Definitely go check out Rosen Hotel now and keep your eye on the band – I’m super excited to see what’s next for them!
