THE WEEKEND REPLAY
Welcome back to another edition of The Weekend Replay, here at Doors At Seven! I have a stellar set of tunes lined up for your listening enjoyment this week. So go grab your headphones and let’s get started.
The Early November released their new self-titled album on Friday, featuring the single “We Hang On.” The New Jersey-originated alternative rock duo shine over the introspective album cut. With glittering guitar riffs, a tempo change near the end and emotive vocals, the track is a must-listen for rock fans. Brotality’s new song “The Bones Of God” is a heavy rock highlight for the week. With ricocheting guitar riffs and strong vocals, the trio only amps it up as the song goes on.
After playing the song and teasing it across social media, singer-songwriter Jensen McRae released the studio version of “Massachusetts.” With production courtesy of major indie producer Brad Cook, McRae writes about navigating the world post-breakup. Her vivid songwriting elevates the track to new heights. “Kelly” from No Good With Secrets is a thumping indie pop-rock track. It shines for its summery guitar-based production that drives the song forward, along with the drums.
Pop star Charli xcx released the deluxe version of her smash album BRAT, with three new tracks. “Guess” is an electrifying, club-ready pop cut with the artist’s usual flare. With a slinky beat courtesy of The Dare, xcx has another hit on her hands. Jordan Armstrong dropped her new track “High Note.” The rising country artist mashes up a sunny country-pop production with twangy vocals. The witty songwriting is a high note of the track, as Armstrong sings, “Let me leave it in a high note / Roll up my joint and go.”
