Weekend replay 1.23.23

Searching for your new music fix—The Weekend Replay is here to help with some fresh new tracks to check out.

Kicking off this week is boygenius with three songs off their first full-length album, the record. Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus take their own distinct voices and sounds and blend them with intensity and emotion in tracks like “$20”. Boston-based JVK just shared the energetic and catchy “Good Talk”, and Story Of The Year put out “War” with a very classic pop-punk sound.

Reigniting many middle school emo phases, Fall Out Boy has returned with new music for the first time in what feels like centuries with “Love From The Other Side”. Plus, New Found Glory released Make The Most Of It, a new album with fourteen tracks. Screaming Females have just put out “Brass Bell” as a single, and The Murder Capital shared a dozen songs on their new album, Gigi’s Recovery. July Talk’s new album Remember Never Before walks the line between dark and light with both vocalists' voices representing each side as the band has historically shown and as Amber Arcades eloquently displays on her own with her new single, “True Love”. “Dress”, a single from Softcult, was also released this week, along with The National’s “Tropic Morning News”

Nell Mescal released “Homesick”, a fun, bedroom pop track, and Stray Bouquet has gifted the world with “Lucid Dream”. Raine and Scarlet Rae keep up with the lighter sound on “Never Tell” and “Waking Dream” respectively, plus some groovier sounds get thrown in this week’s mix with “Drunk On A Flight” from Eloise and Malcolm Todd’s “What’s Up”

The energy kicks up real quick with To The Grave’s “Cut off the Head”, but Mac DeMarco’s instrumental album Five Easy Hot Dogs brings things back down to round out new releases for the week.

As always, we will be back next week with more new tunes for you to check out, but until then, the full playlist of this week’s releases can be found here!
