THROWBACK THURSDAY
Welcome back to Throwback Thursday! This week, we have an incredible playlist made up of songs that have come out this week in years past. We have a very wide range of songs with varying genres. From Taylor Swift to Exodus.
This week in history, we also have some noteworthy events worth mentioning. In 2001, Apple introduced the first iPod, allowing music to be listened to whenever and wherever. The first model was able to hold up to a thousand songs!
Additionally, Def Leppard played three shows in three different continents on the same day, in Africa, Europe and North America!
In chart history, AC/DC’s Back In Black hit 10 million sales, certifying it diamond, and Elton John received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1975.
Moving into our playlist this week, we’re beginning on a different note than usual. Taylor Swift’s Speak Now was released on October 25, 2010, and is one of her most iconic albums. I chose to put “Better Than Revenge” in this week’s playlist, because I feel like this song was a turning point for Swift genre-wise.
Further down, we have John Lennon’s Give Peace A Chance, released in 1969, and American Pie by Don McLean, arguably one of the most popular songs in national history.
Lastly, The Strokes released their album Room On Fire, in 2003, featuring songs including “Reptilia,” and “The Way It Is.”
Join us next week for a brand new playlist with blasts from the past from your favorite artists and bands!
