THROWBACK THURSDAY
Welcome back to Throwback Thursday! This week, we have an incredible playlist made up of songs that have come out this week in years past. Ranging from Kate Bush to The Rolling Stones, we’re also seeing a wide variety of genres.
In this week’s history, there were also several major events I couldn’t go without mentioning. On October 18 1991, the city of Los Angeles declared it “Rocky Horror Picture Show Day,” honoring the 1975 musical horror film.
Additionally, Paul McCartney organized “The Concert For New York,” a benefit concert honoring victims of the September 11 attacks, at Madison Square Garden. Some performers included Billy Joel, Elton John, David Bowie and Eric Clapton.
Lastly, Amy Winehouse, arguably one of the best vocalists in history, released her debut album, “Frank,” on October 20, 2003.
Diving into our playlist, starting out with the band that has earned the title of “The greatest Rock and Roll band of all time,” The Rolling Stones released It's Only Rock ‘N’ Roll, which was their 12th British studio album and their 14th American.
Further down, we have Kate Bush’s “Heads We’re Dancing,” which was featured on her sixth studio album Sensual World, released October 16, 1989. Her 1985 single “Running Up That Hill” was featured in the Netflix series Stranger Things, in 2022, and streams shot up 9,000 percent.
Rock band Primus’ sixth studio album Antipop was released on October 19, 1999, featuring two of the songs from our playlist this week.
Join us next week for a brand new playlist with blasts from the past from your favorite artists and bands!
