THE WEEKEND REPLAY

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Weekend Replay! I have a great playlist of tunes lined up for you this week. Get your headphones, speaker or whatever else you use to listen to music to, and let’s get started.

Kicking off rock music is “Lovesick Blues” from rock band FELICITY. The shimmering pop-rock track shines for its hit-ready production and catchy melodies that especially shine in the choruses. The lyricism is sharp, detailing the aftermath of a relationship. Pop-punk artist Taylor Acorn dropped “High Horse,” a pop-rock song accompanied by a video featuring footage of her sold-out headline tour. Acorn’s new song has a theme of staying true to one’s self regardless of outside criticism. Her gritty vocals soar over the thumping guitar track, making for a must-listen.

Alternative-pop artist Briston Maroney released his new single “Skydiver.” The artist’s first release since their album from last year is a drum-heavy track with airy vocals and space for the instrumentation to breathe. It sees a shift in sound for the artist, whose work typically is guitar-focused and on the acoustic side. Indie act Porches is gearing up for the release of his new album Shirt with the new single “Joker.” The song is a country-esque alternative track with twangy guitar and a steady drum beat. The artist is gearing up for a country-wide headlining tour in support of his new album.

Phoebe Go leads pop music with her single “Good Fight.” The Australian singer-songwriter ‘s new track comes off of her freshly-released debut album Marmalade. With summery, upbeat acoustic guitars and smoothly muted vocals from Go, the track is a highlight off of the record- which is also entirely great. Billie EIlish dropped her third full-length album HIT ME HARD & SOFT, featuring the highlight “BIRDS OF A FEATHER.” The love-fueled track sees Eilish in a new, more confident territory. While much of her discography has been more muted, her new track (and album) has her strongest vocals and most vivid songwriting yet.
