Koyo releases newest single “Message Like a Bomb”
The Long Island based band expands their impressive discography with newest release.
Koyo is a trailblazer and has been, very deservedly I might add, putting themselves as strong frontrunners in the scene. I’ve been very impressed by their releases, and the past few have immediately become some of my favorites to listen to. You're on the List (Minus One) and Anthem – both on the upcoming album Would You Miss It? – are some of the other singles released earlier this summer.
Although not wanting to be classified as a “hater”, Chiaramonte also mentioned that this song was inspired by many things he hates seeing around him and within the scene, especially as Koyo keeps growing.
I for one love the pairing of Chiaramonte and Palumbo’s vocals on this track. Palumbo‘s notorious higher notes combined with the heavy hitting shouts from Chiaramonte is executed flawlessly – and the contrast between the two adds to the song’s effect. It’s also so easy to feel the same anger they mention, especially with verses like:
“Behind the glass I see right through
There’s no sense in breaking through to you
You're the kind
I despise
No matter how I try to shut my watchful eyes”
You can almost feel what they feel, especially because it’s still broad enough to apply it to your own personal experiences. The beautiful thing about music is how we can all hear one song and have it be applicable to so many different things, and Koyo remains a forerunner and they grow and continue to perfect their sound & lyricism.
The band also came out and mentioned they got into a car accident on their way home from with Bayside & I Am The Avalanche, everyone is okay luckily but they are shaken up from the ordeal. They will be putting some leftover merch up on their site soon, so please pick something up if you can to help the band with the expenses. We’ll be looking for anything we can do to help, and LIHC forever.
