THE WEEKEND REPLAY

Welcome back to The Weekend Replay, here at Doors At Seven! I have a great playlist of tunes lined up for your listening enjoyment this week. Get your headphones ready, and let’s get started.

Rock group Four Year Strong dropped their new single “bad habit.” The track features whirring guitars and heavy vocals to match the scathing lyrics. The vocals are front and center, and are some of the strongest of the week. Alternative artist Sueco released the emotional new song “Wreck.” The artist’s voice is shaky at points throughout, perfectly displaying the emotions portrayed in the songwriting.

ROLE MODEL’s sophomore record Kansas Anymore features the somber highlight “Frances.” Rumored to be about his relationship with Emma Chamberlain (whose middle name is the title), the track features a strummed-out guitar production courtesy of The 1975’s Ross MacDonald. Indie artist Joy Oladokun released “Drugs,” a track touching on trying to find something that makes living easier. The song’s influences seem to vary, with country-esque production and gospel-esque background vocals in the choruses.

Pop music kicks off with Madison Beer who released her new single “15 MINUTES.” Leroy Clampitt, frequent  collaborator of Beer, produced the song. Continuing her dance-inspired pop sound, it follows her previous viral hit “Make You Mine,” even including a lyric that calls back to it. Wallows dropped the extended version of their debut album Nothing Happens. The extended version was previously only available on vinyl, and features the new single “Bad Remake.” The upbeat indie-rock track joins their bright and driven array of summer hits.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

  • I Had Some Help” by Goldfinger & Less Than Jake

  • Where or When” by Laufey

  • Lost Ones” by Dr. Dog

  • Paranoid” by Hippo Campus

That’s all for new music this week! Thanks for tuning in, and come back next Monday for a new playlist.
