THE WEEKEND REPLAY
Welcome back to The Weekend Replay, here at Doors At Seven! I have a great lineup of new tunes for your listening enjoyment this week. So get your headphones ready, and let’s get started.
Cassadee Pope is kicking off our rock section this week with a cut from her new album Hereditary. “More To Me” continues the country-turned-rock star’s new era of alternative rock bangers. The new single puts Pope’s strong vocals front and center, with heavy drums and guitar track to assist them. “I’m Not Getting Better” is a synth-pop fueled rock track from Marianas Trench. The group’s new song fuses together smooth rock vocals with pop style production. The group will surely be playing it at their tour in the fall- their first in five years!
Clairo leads alternative music with her new single “Add Up My Love.” The indie singer-songwriter just dropped her third full-length album Charm, and it is full of jazzy, folk-inspired tracks. This one is the most upbeat out of any, though, with fast-paced drums and piano driving it forward. Cigarettes After Sex released their third album as well, which is titled X’s. The title track introduces you into the record, with the group’s signature atmospheric sound. The guitar is stunning and hooks you right in.
British pop act Griff dropped her debut album Vertigo, featuring the highlight “Tears For Fun.” The synth-pop track focuses on the singer-songwriter’s strong vocals and pounding drums. After opening for one night on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, the artist is more than ready for recognition. Alternative-pop artist Remi Wolf released her sophomore record Big Ideas on Friday. “Soup” is new territory for Wolf, delving into a more retro-sounding pop production. Her vocals soar over the track, sounding amazing as always.
