THE WEEKEND REPLAY
Welcome back to another Weekend Replay, here at Doors at Seven! I have a great set of tunes lined up for your listening enjoyment this week. Get your headphones ready, and let’s get started.
Brotality’s “It Feeds” kicks off rock music this week. The trio’s new heavy rock track utilizes a whirring electric guitar and smashing drum track amidst heavy vocals to make a killer song. It marks the group’s second single of the year so far since their sophomore album in 2022. Cassadee Pope dropped her new single “Three Of Us,” tackling the difficult subject of dealing with a relationship involving drugs. Pope says that she’s over this relationship between the three of them, with powerfully pain-fueled vocals and a light guitar track. The singer-songwriter has been on a great streak of singles since last year, and her newest release only solidifies it.
Alternative pop group The Marías dropped a double single from their upcoming album Submarine, featuring “If Only.” The haunting track features sparse piano chords, a trumpet section and lush strings. Lead singer María Zardoya’s vocals are airy and take the track to new heights amidst the beautiful production. Indie-pop artist Beccs dropped her new track “f 0 0 d,” off of her upcoming EP stay moist. The song has an atmospheric production full of twinkling pianos and percussion. Her voice leads the song, with soft vocals levitating above the smooth production.
Leading the pop music world this week is Gracie Abrams with her new single “Risk.” Abrams’ new track is an upbeat, acoustic guitar-focused song that sees her tackle the feelings of a blooming, distant crush. The singer-songwriter announced her sophomore album The Secret Of Us with the release of her new single, both produced by The National member Aaron Dessner (who also produced her entire debut album). Pop star Dua Lipa made her long-awaited album return this past Friday with Radical Optimism, featuring the new single “These Walls.” Lipa seems to find her groove flawlessly on the piano and guitar-rich track, thumping behind her smooth vocals and songwriting depicting a relationship that’s falling apart. The writing is rich with imagery and does an amazing job of adding to the “these walls could talk” concept.
