THE WEEKEND REPLAY

Welcome back to another Weekend Replay, here at Doors At Seven! I have a great lineup of tunes for your listening pleasure this week, so get your headphones ready, and let’s begin.

Kicking off rock music this week is Norwegian pop-punk artist Lille Venn with her new single “Just Like Me!!” Venn’s airy vocals shine over the alt-rock production, with heavy drums and electric guitar riffs throughout. The upbeat track comes in the perfect time for warmer weather and sunny days. “Find Your God” from Oregon-based rock group Southtowne Lanes is a heavy emo-rock track with strong production and even stronger vocals. The group does a stellar job of letting the guitar and drum tracks shine in between vocal sections, making the track go from a laid-back indie song to a heavy rock one in seconds.

Leading alternative music is St. Vincent’s “Big Time Nothing” from her fiery new album All Born Screaming. Over a groovy synth and guitar track, St. Vincent’s Annie Clark calls back to her MASSEDUCTION days with a looser, more experimental approach. The production is scattered in the best way possible, with big crashes and little guitar licks, making it a truly amazing listening experience. Florist’s new track “Riding Around In The Dark” comes from the upcoming A24 film “I Saw The TV Glow”’s soundtrack. It’s a stunningly calm cut, with sparse production apart from a light acoustic guitar strum, piano chords and occasional drum beats. The vocals are heavenly, and the synthy outro swells out to a beautiful guitar part.

Neverender” from Justice and Tame Impala starts our pop music section. The club-ready dance-pop song has Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker’s usual synth-based feel, with some killer buildups to the massive chorus. With bouncing synths and Parker’s smooth vocals, it should be hitting clubs near you soon. Laufey released the deluxe edition of her 2023 smash album Bewitched, including the new single “Bored.” The artist details a relationship falling apart over a light guitar and drum track, with her stunning vocals only getting better as the song goes on.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

  • Girlfriend Is Better” by girl in red

  • Hang In There” by Maya Hawke

  • Bad Dream” by Wallows

  • Bad News” by Hovvdy

  • Wishes” by Tiny Habits

That’s all for this week! Thanks for tuning in, and come back next Monday for another roundup of the best new music.
