“is this what i look like?” NEWEST RELEASE FROM yours truly

Rock group Yours Truly has released their newest EP “is this what i look like?” Through UNFD records, a label who also holds artists such as ERRA, Hellions, and Like Moths to Flames. This EP contains previous singles as well as new releases that really shows the influences and diversity that Yours Truly has to offer between them. Different from their debut album “Self Care”, which was much happier in its tone and message, “is this what i like look?” Is a much more serious look at the world and personal struggle during and after the pandemic.

The record starts with “Walk over my grave”, a fast paced jam that really jump starts the record and differentiates itself from their last release. Keeping that fast pace “Bruises” brings a heavier sound behind the drums and riffs, really making you bop your head from start to finish. Featuring DR€W ¥ORK there is a very nice back and forth between the vocalists adding nice variety to the track. Introducing a popier sound “Careless Kind” reminds me of 2000’s garage punk-rock by the likes of Avril Lavign or Blood Red Shoes, with a mix of their own sound it has the perfect amount of punch.

Coming to the title track “is this what i look like?” is an intermission starting with dreary guitars leading into an edm bridge until all the instruments come together taking off into a digitized combination of emotions. The track really encompases the feeling the entire album deals with as a whole. It leads into “Hallucinate” featuring You Me At Six, really pushing their hard rock sound further. Featuring Josh Frances of You Me At Six shows the reach that Yours Truly has in the scene and where it is they are going. “If you’re Drowning (I’ll Learn How To Hold My Breath)” brings back that popier sound that we heard in “Careless Kind”, this time hitting with edge and some eletronica to spice things up.

Ending the record “Lights On” pulls everything together and ties the album nicely with a catchy chorus and fun verses. Even better, ending the record with the lyrics “is this what i look like?” This is an EP you don’t want to miss, streaming wherever you get music!
