WEEKEND REPLAY 12/12

We’re back with another edition of The Weekend Replay! Here are some fresh tunes that you have to check out.

SZA has finally returned with some long-awaited, highly anticipated music on a 23-track-long album, “SOS”, that connects genres and generations of music listeners that is only amplified with impressive features from Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Travis Scott, plus more, including a verse from Phoebe Bridgers on “Ghost in the Machine”. Art-pop-princess Caroline Polachek released “Welcome To My Island” as the lead single off of her album which we can expect in February. Rebecca Black’s “Look At You” is a haunting lullaby turned indie pop jam (and compliments Polachek’s angsty lyricism very well). Taken By Trees upholds an element of tranquility this week with tracks like “Caroline Good Bye” on their new EP, “Another Year”.

Latchkey Kids pick up the energy a bit with “the week you ran away”, a new album with potent visuals and beautiful depth, and the power continues with Mercury’s refreshing EP “fear mercury”. “The News” from Paramore harkens back to the band’s earlier days with a heavier sound than what their last two albums have shown.

The Arcs mellow things out with “Eyez”, and Lana Del Rey returns with a single, “Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd” (well, did you?). Also, Gorillaz shows no sign of slowing down with “Skinny Ape”—an exciting and dynamic single. Stress Fractures released a single with the same name as their band, and it is super high power, as is “MONEY POWER FAME” from Lil Darkie and “SMILE”—and the rest of the “JUMPING/DANCING/FIGHTING” EP—from Hammok.

The Sound Of Animals Fighting cut in some groovy sounds with their EP “APESHIT”, with whimsically techno songs like “Wolf” announcing the group’s return. “I Told You I Would” is a new EP from KIRBY, and tracks like “Slay” do, in fact, slay.

Rounding out this week’s new releases is Alliteration with “Nutcrackin’”, a super unconventional holiday song to check out.

Don’t let these releases slide under the radar, listen here, and come back next week for some fresh new tracks.
