throwback thursday

Welcome back to Throwback Thursday! This week is definitely my favorite playlist so far. We have a variety of classic rock hits, including live and stripped down versions from Queen to the Rolling Stones!

Before we get into the playlist, there were some big notable events in the history of music this week that couldn’t go without mentioning. In 1970, Aerosmith played their first ever gig at a high school in Massachusetts! They went on to become the best-selling American rock band of all time.

The Beatles debuted the Yellow Submarine film, 1968, in New York. The film was an animated musical comedy that drew inspiration from the band’s music.

Additionally, Woodstock 1994 was released. This album featured performances from the festival that took place in Saugerties, New York, that year. Some artists featured included Green Day, The Cranberries, and Bob Dylan.

Moving into our playlist, we’re starting off with Queen’s 1995 album, Made In Heaven. This is a special one, and was made out of a compilation of recordings that were taken prior to Freddy Mercury’s death in 1991.

The Rolling Stones’ album, Stripped, came out this week in 1995, and features major hits, including “Wild Horses” and “Like A Rolling Stone.”

Keeping the classic rock theme, but tapping into a more mellow side, we have one track by Wings, “Mull of Kintyre.” I chose to close on this song, and it feels like it really rounds out this week’s playlist, while slowing it down a bit.

Join us next week for a brand new playlist with blasts from the past from your favorite artists and bands!
