THE WEEKEND REPLAY
Welcome back to another Weekend Replay, here at Doors at Seven. As usual, I’ll be your host guiding you through the best new songs from the past week. Get your headphones ready, and let’s begin.
Leading rock music is punk band Winona Fighter with their new track “I’M IN THE MARKET TO PLEASE NO ONE.” The song is truly one for head banging, with lyrics centered around wishing karma on someone who’s seriously wronged you. The production is heavy and the vocals are strong, with both complementing each other perfectly. Post-hardcore group SeeYouSpaceCowboy… dropped a double single featuring “Silhouettes In Motion.” The track balances indie rock verses with a more hardcore style throughout the choruses. It comes from the band’s upcoming album Coup De Grâce, which will be released on April 19.
Kicking off alternative music this week is Rainbow Kitten Surprise’s new single “Superstar.” The group’s new single off of their upcoming album (and first since departing ways from a longtime member) is a poppier cut for the band. With a whirring electric guitar track and little synth swells, it is a welcome and well-awaited return. Synths are highly in demand this week, with indie group Gamblers dropping a new track “Running From My Grave.” The song is a synth-pop banger with some classic alternative electric guitar parts. The single is the group’s second of the year and comes off of their upcoming sophomore album Pulverizer out March 29.
Pop music is led by the new single “Run Your Mouth” from The Marías. The alternative-pop group’s first new solo single in three years is a synthy, pop-focused track. The beat is slinking, and the perfect contender for an early song of the summer. Laufey released a new song “Goddess,” from the upcoming deluxe version of her 2023 album Bewitched. The piano-based track is a heart-wrenching ballad that showcases the artist’s vocals and songwriting chops. The track ascends at the end, where the hushed vocals get stronger, and the instrumentation swells up, with a beautiful string section to accompany it.
