THE WEEKEND REPLAY
Welcome back to another Weekend Replay here at Doors at Seven! I have another great set of new tunes lined up for you this week, so get your headphones ready, and let’s get started.
The group’s new track stands out for its ability to seamlessly transform sound as it goes on. Rock group Telltale dropped their new track “Otherside,” an early 2000’s punk rock-esque song that sees the group asking to be taken to the titular “other side,” a metaphor the band uses to show a craving for someone’s love. The track has some solid heavy guitar licks and sleek vocals from lead singer John Carteret.
Field Medic’s “silver girl” heads alternative music. The sweet and relaxed indie track has vivid storytelling and smooth vocals from Field Medic. The track leads the artist’s new project dope girl chronicles, which is also out now. Lana Del Rey released her rendition of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” The production is stripped back until the end, where stunning harmonies emerge and surround Del Rey’s vocals.
Pop music kicks off with a previously-unreleased (apart from an Eras Tour-exclusive CD) track from Taylor Swift. “You’re Losing Me” is the latest, and most likely last, cut from her Midnights album rollout, and its release has been highly-anticipated since its initial announcement in May. The cut sees Swift at a vulnerable place, with vivid songwriting about a relationship that’s falling to pieces. Noah Kahan released a new version of his 2022 Stick Season cut “Everywhere, Everything,” now featuring singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams. With some folk-pop production reworks courtesy of Aaron Dessner, the remix just might be even better than the already-top-tier original.
