New VISION RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM “WITH LOVE”

In this interview New Vision shares with us the writing process of the debut album, working with Man Overboard’s Nik Bruzzese and the deeper meanings hidden in the album.

New Vision’s debut album “With Love” is finally here. An album about the lives of singer songwriter duo Nico Caro and Ryan Skinner. The two began to work on the first song for the album as early as 2019 but little did they know the end result would come to fruition two years later. Crafting songs that give you an inside look at what was going on during these times of their lives, getting a full sense of the emotions behind the lyrics within the music being played. We had the chance to discuss the creation of the album, the struggles the band faces and what’s next for New Vision.

At the end of summer in 2019 Nico and Ryan had begun to start the song “In The Garden” a song that heightens and builds as you listen for an eruption of melodies that just make you want to move. Then the pandemic started and the duo realized it was time to step up their game with the constant free time given to the world due to quarantining and remaining within your own “pod” to slow the spread.

“We definitely realized we had to step up our game and use this time to make something that would challenge us. Ryan and I (Nico) spilt the album, so we each had 5 songs. We each took a different approach but the songs mesh very well we feel. We wanted to make something that resonates with people and that we'll be happy playing 10+ years from now.”

Josh Doro joined the duo helping create tracks on the album that all flow together so cohesively you can feel a sense of strength and underlying tones resembling sounds of the 90’s. Caro goes on to talk about how he feels this album brings the band's songwriting to an entirely new level of maturity.

“All the songs are impactful and they take a good amount of influence from late 90's/early 2000's indie/emo rock.”

The depth of emotion hidden within the lyrics of the song you can’t help but wonder if there’s any symbolism or meaning in them at all. Caro explains that the album does have a few stories hidden in it.

"Crave" was written by me (Nico) and it's about anxiety and how one can appear completely okay on their outer shell but on the inside they feel like a complete wreck. Ryan wrote a song called "Thorn" and it's about love feeling forced & unrequited. The songs are very honest & were very therapeutic to write.”

Crave” was one of the two singles released off of the album, a strong energetic song that calls for an audience's attention. Caro shares that it was the band's favorite song to make off the album.

“It just had such an energy to it, once we had it and listened to it we knew it had to be a single!”

With the joys and highs of creating an album there are oftentimes songs and elements some artist struggle to gather right away. Sometimes struggling to find that missing link that perfectly wraps the song up.

“I'd say the biggest struggle was just getting all the parts down perfectly and getting them down live after the studio. Definitely took a lot of practicing. Also for me (Nico) and Josh, we learned a lot about how to improve our singing and keeping our vocal cords healthy and breathing. Which, we take that advice with me now and always will.”

While recording the album New Vision had the chance to record with Man Overboard’s Nik Bruzzese. Vocalist and bass guitarist Bruzzese reached out to the band via email in 2020 about the band coming to record with him.

“We were very honored to do so. Before we went in to work with him he moved to a new studio called The Gradwell House and asked if we would come with him there to do the album and we immediately agreed. That place was great and we were actually the first full length he recorded at the new studio which was super cool.”

The band’s passion for their music shines through this new LP and you can see a different element and sound brought to the table on each track. New Vision’s With Love Tracklist includes.
