FRND CRCL releases newest LP titled Suburban Dictionary

The New Jersey based pop-punk trio releases their third studio album.

Suburban Dictionary is a fantastic LP to listen to all summer as it follows the release of newest single Fuck California, which was released earlier this month. The seventh track on the LP is very much an East Coast anthem for those familiar with the never ending battle between the East & West Coasts!

FRND CRCL, pronounced as Friend Circle, defines themselves as putting the pop in pop punk, and says that Suburban Dictionary is “for those who take things not at surface value, but who aren’t afraid to stray deeper into their minds”. True to their word, brothers Zac (guitar & vocals) and Nick Johnson (bass) and Aaron Smith (drums) tackle the heavy hitting subjects of mental health, love, and the social inequalities of the world right now.

For those who have been through a bad breakup, Clinically Insane is a track you’ll find yourself wanting to sing along to all the words. In particular, the lyrics “I’m driving by your old house trying not to freak out, everything has changed, somehow still it all remains the same” are ones I really resonate with. Breakups, whether it be from a romantic or platonic relationship, are always hard, and it really feels like everything is different but the same simultaneously. Especially with the repeating line of “Thanks to you I’m going clinically insane now”, it’s an easy song to sing your heart out to, and it’s a feeling that FRND CRCL has executed perfectly in their songwriting.

ADHD is another song I found to be easily relatable to as well! “Trying to change my lense but the world’s got it out for me” and “I find it hard to focus even though I’m concentrating” are things I find myself thinking quite frequently sometimes, and it’s always so validating to know that others are experiencing the same feelings you are – it makes you feel a little less alone in this crazy world. “I think I’m stuck in cruise control / I got no money, hate my job, and it’s starting to take its toll” from Golden is another fun track to sing along to while driving with your windows down.

“I just wanna be with you tonight / you’re golden in my eyes” is a nice thought about love, when you just want to be with that person no matter what else you have going on. The Johnson brothers and Smith encapsulate these emotions perfectly within this LP, and it is truly on my must-listen-to list upon its release on June 30th, 2023.

With upcoming shows on July 20 in York, PA & July 22 in Cleveland, OH, FRND CRCL is not a band you want to miss! They recently played in Poughkeepsie NY, Towson MD, and Philly so they are no strangers to touring on the East Coast.
