The Weekend Replay

Welcome back to another Weekend Replay here at Doors at 7! I have another great week of music for you so get your headphones ready.

Alternative music this week is led by Grayscale’s “Not Afraid To Die.” The track is an indie rock song that has some synth pop elements, with a solid vocal performance and melody throughout. “Rhythm and Rapture” from SeeYouSpaceCowboy… and nothing, nowhere is a great rock track that breaks loose towards the end when it finishes with a flurry of shrieks and guitar. Philly rock group’s new track “Nightmare Nights” has amazing guitar riffs and even better vocals. It leads their upcoming EP of the same name out next month. Art rock band Antenna The End released their debut single “Blah Blah Blah (Chameleon Sentences).” The rock song tracks as one of the best of the week, invoking menacing production choices and memorable vocals from head singer David Hakopyan. “If I Speak” from hardcore rock group Soul Glo is a fast-paced heavy metal track that shines for its vocal performance and delivery throughout the verses. HARU NEMURI’s new track “I Refuse” leads her upcoming EP INSAINT, due out Sept. 29. The punk-rock song was recorded with a live band and stuns for its production and NEMURI’s killer voice. Walter Etc. released their new album When The Band Breaks Up Again came out on Friday, featuring new single “Happy To Be Here.” The indie rock cut is a highlight from the record and is a fast-paced song that displays some really great songwriting from the group, set in front of light guitar and drums.

One of the most anticipated drops of the year in pop music, Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS, was released this past week. The record sees the young superstar dive into a more pop-punk sound and leans away from the ballad-style confessionals of SOUR. “ballad of a homeschooled girl” and “love is embarrassing” are standouts. The former leans towards a grungier production style with gritty guitar and witty songwriting. The latter is a reflection on Rodrigo’s love life with vivid storytelling and an upbeat pop-rock production. Electronic duo telly’s “Arena Gates” is a stunning synth-pop track reminiscent of the mid-2010s dance scene. The track hits its peak towards the end where the production and vocals swell together. The single leads their upcoming debut EP EPISODE 1. Singer-songwriter Leah Culver and drummer Frank Zummo dropped their new collaboration “Deep Dive,” also featuring 93FEETOFSMOKE. The EDM cut is one of the best dance tracks of the week with a good contrast between the two vocalists’ voices that makes it even better when they sing together. Del Water Gap released his new single “Quilt of Steam” written alongside singer-songwriter Arlo Parks. The track is the best droplet from his upcoming album so far and reminisces on the feeling of missing home. Laufey’s new record Bewitched came out on Friday, featuring the new single “Lovesick.” It shines for its songwriting and alternative production that has orchestral elements to it, as well.

That is all the music I have for you this week! Thank you for tuning in and come back next Monday for another great roundup of new tunes.
